WoW Forever

Best professions for each class in WoW Forever (leveling and level 60)

Which two professions to pick for each of the nine WoW Forever classes, for leveling and for level 60, plus the campsite bonus each profession adds.

Published

Every character can learn two primary professions plus Cooking, First Aid and Fishing. In Forever the choice matters more than in Classic: each profession adds a campsite bonus for your group, crafted gear is stronger while leveling, and crafting professions earn Legacy points.

The short rule: while leveling, pair a gathering profession with the craft that makes your armor type or earns gold. At level 60, most competitive players move toward Engineering or Alchemy.

Quick pick by class

Class Leveling pair Level 60 pair Why
Warrior Mining + Blacksmithing Engineering + Mining Plate gear and two melee camp bonuses while leveling; gadgets at max level
Paladin Mining + Blacksmithing Engineering or Alchemy + Herbalism Plate for tank and Retribution; healers lean on Alchemy
Hunter Skinning + Leatherworking Engineering + Mining You kill beasts all day; leather and mail gear from your own hides
Rogue Skinning + Leatherworking Engineering + Mining Leather gear while leveling; Engineering gadgets for PvP
Druid Herbalism + Alchemy or Skinning + Leatherworking Alchemy + Herbalism Leather wearer and natural gatherer; potions for every role
Shaman Skinning + Leatherworking Alchemy + Herbalism or Engineering Leather then mail gear; Alchemy for healers, Engineering for Enhancement
Mage Tailoring + Enchanting Alchemy + Herbalism or Tailoring + Enchanting Cloth gear and bags; disenchant what you outgrow
Priest Tailoring + Enchanting Alchemy + Herbalism Cloth gear while leveling; healing consumables at 60
Warlock Tailoring + Enchanting Engineering or Alchemy + Herbalism Cloth gear; Engineering is strong in PvP

If you want gold above everything, two gathering professions (for example Mining + Skinning or Herbalism + Skinning) is still the fastest route. Read the free gold guide first.

How campsites change the choice

A campsite is built around a campfire, and each profession can add its own object to it (Cooking’s Campfire Kits raise how many objects a camp can hold). Different professions add different bonuses, so a group with mixed professions covers more than a group where everyone picked the same two. In practice:

  • Melee groups want a Blacksmith (Sharpening Wheel), a Miner (Lodestone) and a Skinner (Camp Chair).
  • Caster groups want a Herbalist (Incense Candle), a Tailor (Faction Banner) and an Alchemist (Mana Well).

If you play with friends, split professions between you instead of all taking the same pair. Camp effects have limits on how they interact with class buffs; check the tooltip in game.

Legacy points: gathering does not count

Forever’s Legacy system gives 1 Legacy point the first time you reach 150, 225 and 300 in a crafting profession. Mining, Herbalism and Skinning do not award Legacy points. A character with two gathering professions earns gold faster but no profession Legacy points; at least one crafting profession is worth it if you care about Legacy.

Secondary professions: take all three

  • Cooking: food now gives an experience bonus, and Campfire Kits raise how many objects your camp can hold.
  • First Aid: besides bandages, Healing Potions are now made with First Aid instead of Alchemy, plus new cures for poisons and bleeds.
  • Fishing: feeds Cooking and adds a Fish Bowl to your camp.

Changing your mind

You can unlearn a profession and start another, but you lose its skill. The cheapest moment to switch is while leveling, before you invest in high-level recipes. Plan your talents for the same class in the talent calculator.
