WoW Forever

WoW Forever Legacy system: points, perk trees, rewards and best spends

How Legacy works in WoW Forever: how to earn Legacy points, every perk in the three trees, the 16-point cap, the reward track and three ways to spend your points.

Published

Legacy is WoW Forever’s account-wide progression system. You complete Legacy challenges (level a class, max a craft, earn PvP ranks, clear raids), each one gives 1 Legacy point, and you spend those points on perks in three trees. Points belong to your Battle.net account, but each character spends them its own way.

The short version

  • Earn: points come from challenges across the whole account, not from one character.
  • Spend: at launch each character can spend up to 16 points. Each tree goes up to 25, so you cannot fill everything.
  • Collect: every point you earn, spent or not, also advances a reward track with cosmetics.
  • Open it: the Legacy window unlocks with your first point and opens with Y by default.

Your first character starts with no points: the first one arrives at level 25 or at 150 skill in a crafting profession. Legacy mostly speeds up your second and later characters.

How to earn Legacy points

Category Points What counts
Classes 27 Levels 25, 45 and 60 with each of the nine classes
Crafting professions 18 Skill 150, 225 and 300 in Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Leatherworking and Tailoring
PvP 9 Honor ranks 3, 7, 10, 13 and 14; Exalted with a battleground faction; Field of Honor journey weeks 4, 7 and 10
Dungeons 3 Novice, Experienced and Master dungeon groups
Raids 3 Clearing Hyjal Summit, Barrow Deeps and Onyxia’s Lair
Adventure 2 Explore Azeroth, plus one long questline

Blizzard says 65 points can be earned in the first tier; the beta list above adds up to 62, so expect a few more challenges at launch. Gathering professions (Mining, Herbalism, Skinning) give no Legacy points, which matters when you choose your professions.

Three ways to spend 16 points

These are our suggestions with beta values, not official builds.

Goal Perks (16 points)
Level alts fast Talented 5 · Well Rested 5 · Thrill of Adventure 5 · Frequent Flier 1
Gold and professions Bountiful Harvest 5 · Working Overtime 5 · Performance Bonus 3 · Bartering 2 · Dedicated Study 1
Max level and PvP For Great Honor 5 · Reinforce 5 · Gourmand 3 · Permanence 2 · Reagent Economy 1

Community guides report that you can unlearn Legacy perks at a class trainer; check the cost in game before you experiment.

Reward track

Rewards count every point you have earned, even beyond the 16 you can spend:

Points earned Reward
15 Holstered Replica Ironforge Air Rifle (toy)
25 Spectral Bear Cub (pet)
40 Spectral Bear Tabard
55 Reins of the Spectral Bear (mount)

Claim them from Innkeeper Wiley in Ratchet.

Hardcore

Points earned on Hardcore characters can be used on normal characters, but not the other way around. Hardcore has its own challenges in place of PvP ones. Hardcore arrives after launch.

Beta values can change before November 4. We will update this page with the launch build.
