Costs are estimated from vendor sell prices. The route skips crafts with a cooldown (Mooncloth, transmutes) and those that need dungeon-only materials. "Trainer" is an estimate: recipes not taught by an item usually come from trainers.
Alchemy makes potions, elixirs, and flasks for healing and temporary effects. It can help during leveling as well as at max level. Most recipes use herbs, which makes Herbalism a practical pairing if you want to gather some of your own materials.
Why consider it while leveling?
Wowhead’s Forever guide, updated October 12, reports more than 50 new Alchemy recipes, including consumables intended for lower skill levels. Examples include Minor Mender’s Potion at skill 30, Lesser Mageblood Elixir at 75, and Mender’s Potion at 130. Some recipes come from drops or the new supply-faction vendors, so trainer recipes are only part of the progression.
Treat those as examples; the full suggested route is in the data section above, and beta data can still change.
Where to train
Apprentice training is available in major cities. Higher ranks use specific trainers, and the locations below are a short starting list from the current community guide.

Alchemy at campfires
Forever ties some profession items to the campsite system. The community guide lists Mana Well at skill 20, Fermenter at 140, and Alchemy Laboratory at 300. It says the Fermenter can drop from Rath’mael in Ruins of Lordaeron; its listed source for Alchemy Laboratory is still unknown. These items provide a campfire benefit or enable certain recipes, so check the current recipe tooltip before planning around them.
A simple starting plan
- Learn Alchemy and, if you want to gather ingredients, pair it with Herbalism.
- Learn the recipes available from your local trainer and save herbs rather than selling every stack.
- Check supply-faction recipes as you progress; some useful recipes are bought with Merchant’s Favor.
- Recheck the source and current skill requirement for any recipe before spending gold or traveling.
