WoW Forever
WoW Forever name reservation: October 27, how it works
Dates, account eligibility and practical steps for reserving a WoW Forever character name from October 27 to November 3, 2026.
Dates announced by Blizzard
Early name reservation
Reservations are first come, first served and included only with eligible purchases: the Skyborne Heroic Pack, Skyborne Epic Pack or Warcraft Forever Collection. You can reserve up to three characters. Dates are in Pacific Time (PST).
A full character name
Think in two parts
Each character has a first name and a second name. The full combination must be unique within your region; a first name can still be available with a different second name.
How to prepare
- Confirm the eligible purchase
The benefit applies to the specific WoW account the purchase was made for. A beta invitation alone does not qualify: you need one of the packs. Check that account in Battle.net before reserving.
- Prepare several combinations
Write down 5 to 10 complete combinations (first + second name), not just first names, and rank them. Reserve the character whose name matters most first.
- Review the naming rules
Existing naming rules still apply. Blizzard may evaluate both parts together, so splitting a restricted word does not make it acceptable.
- Return during the reservation window
Blizzard’s post gives the dates but no opening hour. Check the official page as October 27 approaches.
Frequently asked questions
How do I reserve my name in WoW Forever?
You need one of the eligible packs on your WoW account. Between October 27 and November 3, create your launch character and save it: saving it reserves its full name (first + second name). You can do this for up to three characters.
What can I do during the reservation window?
You can create and customize up to three launch characters. Saving each one reserves its full name. You cannot enter the world until launch on November 4.
Do beta or stress test names carry over?
No. Beta and October 21 stress test characters, names and guilds are wiped. Using a name there does not reserve it for launch.
Do I need a pack if I only have a subscription?
To reserve early, yes. With a regular subscription you can create your character at launch, but without the head start: the name you want may already be taken.
Can I reuse a name that already exists?
Yes, if the full name is different. Two characters can share a first name as long as the second name differs.
Prefer to show only the first name?
In game, open Game Menu (Escape) → Options → Nameplates and uncheck “My Secondary Name.” It will still appear in chat.
No name is guaranteed. Keep alternatives ready and check eligibility directly with Blizzard.
