WoW Forever launches November 4, 2026. Blizzard has published the installation steps: select WoW: Forever as the game version and, if you have multiple WoW accounts, choose the active account you intend to use. Check your region and access before launch time as well.
Before you download
- Sign in to your Battle.net account. If you cannot sign in, use account recovery from the login screen or Blizzard Support. Once you have access, verify the region and WoW account you intend to use.
- Check how you will access the game. Blizzard says ordinary WoW Forever access is included with an active World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time. An eligible recipient can use an Invite-A-Friend code without a subscription from November 4 through 11; see how to redeem one.
- Check Windows or Mac requirements and available space in our launch requirements guide. Blizzard recommends updating your operating system and graphics drivers before installation.
Install WoW Forever in Battle.net
- Download the official Battle.net desktop app for Windows or Mac and sign in.
- Open World of Warcraft in Battle.net and choose WoW: Forever from the Game Version menu.
- If you have multiple WoW accounts, use the second dropdown to choose the active account you want to play on.
- Click Install and wait for the progress bar to finish. When available, click Play.
These steps follow Blizzard’s October 29 announcement. The old Stress Test option belonged to the October 21 test and is not the launch client.
Region, account and ruleset
If you have several accounts or plan to play with friends in another region, confirm the region and account before installing or buying Game Time. The account selector matters because a purchase, subscription or code may be tied to a specific WoW account. Read the announced rulesets before creating your character.
Common problems before launch
WoW: Forever is missing from the selector
Check that you opened World of Warcraft rather than the old beta or stress-test option. Restart Battle.net and verify the account and region again. If the option remains missing, consult Blizzard’s announcement or support; we cannot assume the download appears for every account at the same moment.
I have more than one WoW account
Use the second dropdown to choose the active account before installing or clicking Play. Check that account’s subscription, Game Time or applicable code.
I cannot sign in
Use “Can’t Log In?” in Battle.net to recover your password, unlock the account or resolve an authenticator issue. Blizzard also recommends securing your email and computer if you suspect unauthorized access. Contact official support if self-service recovery does not work.
Do I need an upgrade pack?
Ordinary access requires a subscription or Game Time; upgrade packs are optional. Some benefits, including the Skyborne race and starting experience, require an eligible edition. A valid invitation code is a temporary exception during Blizzard’s stated launch-week window.
Once installed, check the launch time in your region and plan your leveling route.
