The WoW Forever beta is not going out quietly. Blizzard announced 24 hours of "shenanigans and upheaval" in the starting zones before the beta closes, and players are already showing the results: raid epics at level 2, wolves dropping Molten Core gear, and Sulfuras and Thunderfury in the loot.
Key points
- It is official. Blizzard announced 24 hours of “shenanigans and upheaval” to say goodbye to the beta. They end when the beta closes on Friday, October 23 at 10:00 a.m. PDT.
- Where. In the starting zones: Zephras Isle, Dun Morogh, Elwynn Forest, Teldrassil, Durotar, Tirisfal Glades and Mulgore. According to Wowhead, Azuregos and Kazzak show up too.
- What is dropping. Players report that mob loot has changed: raid epics from level 2 and 3 mobs and legendaries such as Sulfuras and Thunderfury.
- Do you keep it? No. Blizzard warns that the celebration almost certainly includes items and experiences that will not be part of WoW Forever when it launches on November 4.
What Blizzard said
The official announcement asks players to log into the beta one last time, head to one of those zones and “experience the madness” before saying goodbye. It is a one-time-only event, not a preview of launch loot.
Blizzard did not publish a list of what changed. Everything below comes from player screenshots.
What players are showing
Two raid epics at level 2

On r/wowforever, a player says their level 2 Orc killed a level 3 scorpion and got two raid epics at once: Staff of Dominance, a Molten Core drop, and the Judgement Leggings from the Paladin raid set. According to the post, it happened right after a server rollback.
An Elwynn wolf with Molten Core loot

Content creator MrGM posted on X that “all the loot tables of the mobs has changed”, and the post has passed 94,000 views. In his screenshot, a Young Wolf in Elwynn Forest drops three epics: Spinal Reaper, Lawbringer Bracers (from the Paladin raid set) and Choker of Enlightenment.
Legendaries in boss loot
Another player, @DATGUYCOOP, showed a boss loot window with two Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros and three Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker: the two most famous legendary weapons of the classic era. It is the main image of this story.
Do you keep it for launch?
No. The beta closes for good on Friday, and Blizzard makes clear that what you see in this celebration is not part of WoW Forever. On November 4 everyone starts from scratch, at level 1 and without epics.
So if you have beta access, now is the time to log in just for the fun and the screenshot.
Closing time
The beta closes on Friday, October 23 at 10:00 a.m. PDT (1:00 p.m. EDT, 17:00 UTC). More details in our story on the beta extension to October 23.
What comes next
- October 27: name reservation opens.
- November 4: WoW Forever launch.
