Which classes is the community trying in WoW Forever? Hunter leads this beta census, ahead of Warrior and Paladin. The sample records 1,003,125 characters: a useful starting point for exploring preferences, but different from a player count or a performance ranking.

Which class leads this sample?

Hunter is first with 156,104 characters, representing 15.6% of the total. Warrior follows at 12.2% and Paladin at 11.8%. This story’s title refers to that community beta sample, rather than the entire game population.

In the original post, u/NayKu describes reaching one million scanned characters with help from volunteers. This analysis uses the snapshot in the post’s screenshots; current ClassicPlus.io totals may have changed. These are community census figures, not an official Blizzard announcement.

WoW Forever beta class popularity: all nine classes

Class Recorded characters Displayed share
Hunter 156,104 15.6%
Warrior 122,675 12.2%
Paladin 118,410 11.8%
Druid 114,126 11.4%
Shaman 112,642 11.2%
Mage 97,650 9.7%
Rogue 97,263 9.7%
Priest 92,571 9.2%
Warlock 91,684 9.1%

The counts sum to 1,003,125. Percentages retain the screenshot’s rounding and therefore sum to 99.9%. Mage and Rogue both display 9.7%, although their character counts differ.

The table counts characters rather than damage per second, PvP wins or leveling speed. It also does not identify each character’s specialization. It cannot establish that a Hunter build outperforms a Warrior build or that a less represented class will perform poorly.

One player can create several characters to try abilities, races or starting zones. Their beta experiments need not match their intended launch main. We therefore use the ranking to discuss observed preferences rather than turn it into a tier list.

Alliance and Horde are close in this snapshot

The sample contains 505,425 Alliance characters and 497,700 Horde characters: 50.4% versus 49.6%. The difference is 0.8 percentage points using the screenshot’s rounded values.

That describes the accumulated sample. It does not tell us how many people are online simultaneously or guarantee the same balance in a particular region, time slot or activity.

Race popularity: account for both Skyborne rows

The table lists Undead at 16.6% and Human at 16.3%. It also separates Skyborne into two faction rows: 94,426 Alliance characters and 92,911 Horde characters.

Road to 60 Forever calculation: combining both Skyborne rows produces 187,337 characters, approximately 18.7% of the sample. That combined count exceeds the Undead count. We state the grouping explicitly so the faction-separated row order is not mistaken for a grouped race ranking.

Undead Paladin is the highlighted combination

The overview and matrix identify Undead Paladin at 5.8% of the entire sample. This is a race-class combination, not the total Paladin share or a percentage calculated only among Horde characters.

The matrix helps explore compatible choices and new combinations, but does not measure racial strength. Use our race and racial reference to check each ability’s conditions before choosing.

Turn curiosity into a character plan

If a class caught your attention, explore its actual decisions next:

  • Hunter: pet control, ranged positioning and an editorial level-30 Beast Mastery route.
  • Warrior: Rage, a two-handed weapon and an Arms starter route.
  • Paladin: seals, mana and a Retribution questing proposal.
  • Mage: control, recovery and a Frost starter route.

Our talent calculator supports all nine classes. Explore alternatives and share the result; published routes are editorial beta proposals rather than measured optimal in-game builds.

What we know about the sample

The original post describes a volunteer scanning project. We have not audited its raw records or independently verified regional coverage or deduplication. We do not use it to estimate unique accounts, subscribers or worldwide population.
